PHOENIX — Barnes & Noble opened a new location in Phoenix for the first time in 20 years.
The new store, located off Camelback Road and 20th Street, occupies the space where a Forever 21 used to sit. It has two floors, a cafe, and an array of books, games, and goodies for book lovers to shop.
“It has been 20 years since we last opened a Barnes & Noble in Phoenix and are very pleased to do so now in The Shops at Town & Country,” James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, said in a news release. “Our booksellers are eager to open the doors to this beautiful new Barnes & Noble and our baristas look forward to welcoming patrons into their brand-new B&N Café.”
The bookstore played host to numerous local Arizona authors on opening day and will continue to do so throughout their first week and beyond. The store’s Instagram mentions upcoming author visits and signings, as well as storytimes.
The new store comes after a year of tremendous growth for the chain. According to a news release, Barnes & Noble opened more stores in 2024 than in 2009 to 2019 combined. There are 60 additional stores opening in 2025.
“The next chapter for book lovers in the Biltmore community begins now,” Store Manager Rusty Rubert said in a news release. “We are excited to welcome the community to their new Barnes & Noble!”
